Exchange-house operations
How to receive USDT at a Colombian currency exchange house
Receiving a token is only one part of the operation. The house needs to identify who provides value, who receives pesos, when cash can be released and how to handle a wrong amount or network. Use this method to design an internal procedure and a provider pilot; it does not determine which activities a particular entity may undertake.
The short answer
Before receiving USDT, agree on the asset, network, address, amount, quote and peso delivery method. Verify receipt in the authorized system, complete your operational checks and reconcile both deliveries under one reference. A customer screenshot is not enough to authorize cash release.
1. Define the trade before sharing an address
Record the expected amount, network, peso recipient and whether delivery is cash or a confirmed account payment. Name the people who quote, approve and pay. If a beneficiary or address changes, verify the new details through the agreed channel.
USDT exists on multiple networks. Check the token identifier against Tether’s official reference, then separately confirm which asset and network combination your provider accepts. A wallet name or token logo does not replace that check.
- An address generated or verified through the authorized channel, rather than copied from an old conversation.
- Minimums, maximums, required confirmations and the process for incorrect transfers.
- A quote stating expiry, net pesos, charges and the acceptance condition.
2. Separate sending, receipt and availability
A send instruction, a detected transaction and an available balance are different states. Use the transaction identifier to check network, token, recipient, amount and status. Then confirm platform credit under its policy; do not release pesos just because a customer presents a receipt.
If the amount is short, the quote expires or the operation enters review, pause delivery and record the discrepancy. Agree whether to requote, request an additional transfer or follow a return process. Do not promise that an incorrect transfer can be recovered.
3. Deliver pesos and close the operational record
Release cash only after your receipt and approval criteria are met. Keep the operation reference, accepted quote, receipt evidence, authorization and delivery record together. Restrict personal information to the people who need access.
At close, reconcile each operation: expected and received USDT, charges, agreed and delivered pesos, outstanding balance and exception owner. An initiated bank payment remains pending until the evidence of credit agreed with the provider is available.
What to verify at each handoff
Scroll the table to see all columns.
| Control point | Useful evidence | If it does not match |
|---|---|---|
| Quote | Amount, network, net COP and expiry | Requote before acceptance |
| Receipt | Transaction and provider credit | Keep delivery pending |
| Review | Result and authorized owner | Escalate without releasing cash |
| COP delivery | Receipt and verified beneficiary | Investigate payment status |
| Close | Both deliveries under one reference | Open a reconciliation exception |
Verification checklist
- Token, network, address and credit policy are confirmed.
- The customer knows the net peso amount and quote expiry.
- Identity, beneficiary and supporting records meet our procedure.
- The person releasing pesos can see the current approval.
- The pilot covers a short amount and delayed delivery without putting customer funds at risk.
Risks and limits
- Confusing networks or tokens can put a transfer outside the accepted workflow.
- Releasing pesos against unverified evidence exposes cash.
- A provider, network or bank may require review or experience an outage; assign responsibility for customer updates.
- Review issuer and platform terms separately. This procedure does not resolve the house’s legal, tax or accounting position.
Frequently asked questions
Can I receive USDT on any network?
Use only the token and network combination confirmed by the receiving platform. Check issuer references and current provider instructions before introducing a flow; seeing USDT in a wallet does not establish compatibility.
When should I release pesos?
After the operation meets its defined credit, verification and approval conditions. A screenshot, announced transfer or pending status does not satisfy those controls.
What if a different amount arrives?
Keep the operation pending, record the received amount and agree on its treatment with the customer and provider. Do not silently adjust the net amount or reuse an expired quote.
Does this guide confirm that my house may handle USDT?
No. It is an operational design guide. Your entity’s activities, model, contracts and obligations need their own assessment with qualified advisers before offering the service.

How we prepare and review this guide
Zabio publishes this content to help evaluate stablecoin, exchange-house and OTC-desk workflows. Zabio offers services in this field and has a commercial interest in provider selection.
- Sources with a specific scope
- We link primary documentation for the claims it supports. An issuer source identifies an asset or protocol; it does not establish that a provider accepts it. Commercial documentation describes a published offering, rather than independently tested availability.
- Examples and methods separate from real outcomes
- Numerical examples labeled illustrative use educational assumptions. Checklists and calculations are proposed ways to evaluate a workflow; they are not fees, customer results or execution guarantees.
- Comparisons with visible limits
- Provider selections explain their criteria, review date and what was not verified. They do not give Zabio an independent ranking or replace testing a specific workflow and reviewing its terms.
- Dates and corrections
- The review date identifies a substantive content review. Coverage, prices, terms and service status may change and must be confirmed before transacting. An operational guide does not determine an entity’s legal, tax or accounting obligations.
